WHO IS JUSTIN?

Born just outside of the Washington DC area, Justin Thomas is a talented young drummer who is constantly honing his craft. His funky hip hop oriented style has served him well throughout his career playing along side of various DC musicians including Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders), The Fisherman, The Muddy Crows and others. He's currently the drummer with the band Black Tie performing over 50 shows a year.  He's an excellent chart reader and has performed in numerous theater productions including Shrek the Musical, Monty Python's Spamalot, Always Patsy Cline, 35MM and more.  He is a certified drum specialist from The Berklee College of Music.
He's entertained audiences at popular venues such as DC’s Gypsy Sally’s, Jammin’ Java and Baltimore’s Artscape Music Festival. He's studied with Chuck Redd (Charlie Byrd), Mike Johnston (mikeslessons.com), Rod Morgenstein (Dixie Dregs, Winger), Jim Payne (James Taylor, Edgar Winter), Matt Halpern (Periphery) and Grant Menefee (teacher to Nate Morton of The Voice, John Theodore of Queens of the Stoneage).  Justin's influences include Tim Alexander (Primus), Carter Beauford (DMB), Chad Sexton (311), Chad Smith (Chili Peppers) and Ringo Starr (The Beatles).

Today, Justin is mashing up his love for the drums and audio as producer of the Drummer's Resource Podcast, The Daniel Glass Show and now his own podcast called The Pocket.

Justin proudly endorses Ludwig Drums, Evans Drum Heads and Vic Firth Drum Sticks.
